First Project WET Water Festival held at Ludi Elementary on Hongfeng Lake April 26!

We had three goals for our first Water Festival. First, show students how cool and interesting water is! Second, allow students to participate in its protection by a simple litter pick-up activity. Third, have fun! After a very early departure from Guiyang, 10 Leaders and Volunteers along with NatureWize staff arrived at Ludi Elementary School, situated on Hongfeng Lake, and quickly set up five Project WET activity stations: H2O Olympics, Passing Through, 8-4-1, Humpty Dumpty, Blue Planet and A Drop in the Bucket (held as one station). After a morning full of learning and games, we spent the remainder of the afternoon by the lake participating in water testing and picking up litter.  It was a very busy and very fun day!

What is Project WET? Originally beginning its work in the USA in 1984, Project WET has expanded its mission worldwide to reach children, parents, educators and communities of the world with water education. Its goal is to provide scientifically accurate and educationally sound water resources education materials, training courses and networking services to organizations, governments and corporations for use in designing, developing and implementing their own localized Project WET programs. With the help of Guizhou's Two Lakes One Reservoir Foundation, NatureWize could invite Project WET to Guizhou this summer! We are now in the process of localizing this program for residents in Guiyang.
